夫婦倉
嘉永5年（1852年）、塩飽⼤⼯の⼿によって⽣ノ浜の海岸近くに建てられた⽊造本⽡
葺の⼟蔵。同じ形の倉が２つ連なっており、その形から「夫婦（めおと）倉」と呼ば
れています。江⼾時代、このエリアにはたくさんの塩飽⼤⼯が住んでいました。
夫婦倉は昭和61年（1986年）に市の指定⽂化財になったのを機に、原型のまま現在の
場所に移転・復元されました。
Meotogura (the married couple warehouse) was built by Shiwaku Daiku (skilled
carpenters based on Honjima) near by Ikunohama seashore in 1852. The mud
wall has wooden frame inside and the roof structure is Honkawarabuki
(traditional method of tile arrangement).
The warehouse consists of 2 parts which are same shape. So the islanders
associated the unique shape with a married couple and they called it as Meoto (a
married couple) Gura (warehouse). In Edo period, many ShiwakuDaiku were
living around the warehouse.
In 1986, at the occasion that the Meotogura was selected the cultural heritage by
Marugame city, the warehouse brought over from the original place and
reassemble.
